Touch the contemporary arts at….. Suan Mai Thai Ban Phor Liang Meun, Lamphun

                A common clay sculpture factory was modified by owner.  Mr. Sutthipong Maiwan or Father Dang, the owner of Suan Mai Thai Ban Phor Liang Meun and became a big showroom of art and culture in the middle of a enormous garden with 200 Rai filled with fascinating sculptures. Every artistic work can be touched in this garden. These clay sculptures are looking like ancient artifacts, which turn this place into a very impressive location.

                Father Dang explained, that those products were sculptured by professional local craftsmen, which trained themselves through by observation. They could establish Suan Mai Thai Ban Phor Liang Meun after 34 years. Every product is made with pottery from Lamphun, as Lamphun is famous for its pottery since a very long time. It is also well-known for handicrafts such as amulets, Phra Rod and Phra Benja Phakee which were made from Lamphun’s qualitative and endurable clay.  Its special feature is the ability to turn into 5 different colors (white, yellow, orange, pink and green) after heating, depending on the used temperature.

                Besides these many kinds of artistic works, it has a beautiful garden inside, which is full of various kind of trees which match to the sculptures. This showroom of culture and art can be a good sample for gardening concepts and ideas to the guests. There are also demonstrating instructors to let interested people learn the techniques, which will keep the Thai culture alive.
